New blog post from Joint Journeys, life with arthritis by Carrie: Have a nice day, Ma’am

In her latest blog, Carrie shares what her goal is for her 50th year – a challenge called 50for50 with the aim of completing a total of 50km of activities on a weekly basis. As a person who’s always been active, she shares how devastating it was for her when she experienced debilitating joint pain and swelling in her early 30’s and how it was a struggle for her both physically and mentally.

Her active lifestyle did not come without resistance. Although she was never discouraged by her physicians to be active, her friends and family were not initially supportive, believing that if you have joint disease, you need to limit your activity and live a much more sedentary life. Luckily, she responded well to treatments, have experienced remission and can remain active.

“Yes. One does need to be mindful to choose activities that are right for their ability, their disease activity, their tolerance, and their capacity. BUT! Being active and staying active - insert "keep moving" - are vital for joint health...not to mention all sorts of other physical and mental benefits that come with it.” – Carrie
