Arthritis At Home 299 – Webinar – Drained bodies and foggy brains: Fatigue in autoimmune diseases

In this special episode of Arthritis At Home, we are featuring Dr. Mo Osman’s webinar titled “Drained bodies and foggy brains: Fatigue in autoimmune diseases”. Dr. Osman is an Associate Professor in the Division of Rheumatology at the University of Alberta. He is a rheumatologist with a focus in connective tissue diseases – systemic sclerosis, morphea, lung fibrosis, myositis, and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

The webinar reviews the frequency of fatigue in scleroderma, systemic sclerosis, early rheumatoid arthritis, and SLE. Dr. Osman also defines the types of fatigue found in autoimmunity – fatigue that is associated with ongoing inflammation and smoldering fatigue unrelated to active disease. He concludes with a discussion on practical tips for managing fatigue – such as self-monitoring, prioritizing tasks at hand, diet, exercise, and setting a sleep routine.
