In this Arthritis At Home, Cheryl Koehn, president of Arthritis Consumer Experts, speaks to physiotherapy-health literacy PhD student, Ms. Ellen Wang. Their conversation focusses on the importance of exercise for people living with arthritis and what types of exercise are most beneficial. They discuss about ACE’s newly launched course JointHealth™ Education: Arthritis and Exercise and how the course can help those who want to include exercise in their treatment and self-care plan. About Ellen Wang
Ellen is ACE’s programs coordinator and contributes to content development for JointHealth™ communication and education programs. Ellen is currently studying to become a physiotherapist. She has a Master and Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo. During her time in Ontario, Ellen volunteered in exercise programs for patients undergoing cancer treatment, individuals with heart disease, and older adults living with dementia and their care partners. From her experiences, she developed a keen interest in patient self-care and health equity.
